A Dialogue Between Craft and Space

The Art in Resonance program distinguishes itself from other hotel art initiatives by focusing on emerging and mid-career artists, specifically those with remarkable talent but lacking a platform to reach larger audiences. The Peninsula Chicago's current Art in Resonance exhibition, for example, features works from the Bill and Christy Gautreaux Collection, highlighting the hotel's focus on women and artists of color, including Cuban printmaker Belkis Ayón, sculptor Nick Cave, and painter Sam Gilliam. The exhibition connects to the creative communities established in the American locations of The Peninsula Hotels. Meanwhile, The Peninsula Tokyo's 2024 residency with Japanese calligrapher Maaya Wakasugi  offered "specially curated interactive programs for guests" that reflect Japanese artistic traditions. 

As Art in Resonance enters its sixth year, it has established a template for how luxury hospitality can meaningfully engage with culture - one that embodies the hospitality brand’s dedication to providing guests with not just a place to stay but a journey that lingers.
