From Seed to Scent

On March 16, Robertet opened its New York headquarters for an evening that functioned as both a book launch and a long-overdue formal introduction. The occasion: the debut of Robertet: From Seed to Scent, the latest title from Assouline, and a public acknowledgment of the two houses' deepening creative partnership, one guests may have already encountered without knowing it: Robertet is the fragrance partner behind Assouline's Travel From Home candle collection, the house responsible for the scent development that gives each destination in the series its sense of place.

Hosted by Assouline President Alex Assouline and Robertet's Global Head of Fragrance and Sustainability Julien Maubert, the evening gathered a discerning crowd at the intersection of publishing, fragrance, and design. At the center of conversation was the book itself, written by Élisabeth de Feydeau, the acclaimed French author and perfumery historian whose singular expertise made her the only choice for the project. The result is an authoritative journey through nearly two centuries of Maubert family legacy, tracing the arc of a Grasse-founded house that built its reputation on natural raw materials, and has never once compromised that foundation.

The sensory portion of the evening offered guests something rarer than a tasting, it was an education. Orange blossom, iris, coffee and vanilla, rose, and tuberose were presented as individual raw materials, inviting guests to experience the collection's ingredients at the source. It was, in effect, the book made tangible: the same story of provenance, craft, and care, told through smell and print.
