Between the Stars and the Shelves

This Ramadan, we celebrate a time of reflection, of drawing inward, and letting beautiful objects speak.

Discover a special collection from artist George Greaves, whose richly detailed illustrations have brought Assouline's celebrated volumes Saudi Coffee: The Culture of Hospitality, Saudi Dates: A Portrait of the Sacred Fruit, and Mystic Mist: The Rituals of Huqqa to life.

Dreams. Time. Contemplation. For London-based artist and illustrator George Greaves, these are not themes so much as pathways into an artistic atmosphere all his own. "A library space is an environment where you explore different ideas," he says. "You travel from the comfort of your own home." It is a simple idea, and like all simple ideas, it contains everything.

This Ramadan, we honor the quiet beauty of the symbols and rituals woven into Middle Eastern life. Our limited-edition, hand-painted collectibles from the brand's Library Collection feature drawings of the crescent moon, the sun, and the stars, forms that have carried centuries of meaning. Now they find new expression on the covers of backgammon sets, pressed into bookends, and brought to life on book stands in colors as vivid as the culture that inspired them.

"I wanted to create something joyful and exuberant," Greaves says. This collection delivers exactly that.

These pieces are available at Maison Assouline Riyadh, with a curated selection presented at select Assouline retailers across the region.
