The flavor palette of the night was as spicy as the cocktails. To kick off the start of a series of celebrations, The Players' Tribune, a sports content brand co-founded by MLB Hall of Famer and former Yankees Captain Derek Jeter, hosted a dazzling anniversary event at the at the WSA pop-up of Tillie's Restaurant in downtown Manhattan. The venue was adorned with large panels showcasing a variety of athletes including Travis Kelce, Neymar, Stephen Curry, and Venus Williams.
Athletes, entertainers and VIP guests arrived dressed in a range of streetwear-inspired looks. As Cincoro mango margaritas, jalapeño poppers, and tajin-covered watermelon bites circled the disco ball-lit room, guests got a chance to mingle, enjoy the black and white photo booth set, and take a peek inside the pages of The Players' Tribune’s new book, I've Got A Story To Tell. To make the space even more immersive, a personalized wall displayed ten open copies of the book, offering attendees a sneak peek into each narrative.
Crafted in collaboration with Assouline, I've Got A Story To Tell captures powerful stories written by a wide range of athletes from all over the world, such as Kobe Bryant, Kylian Mbappé, Megan Rapinoe, Ángel di Maria, Iga Świątek, Tom Brady, and more. This book marks The Players’ Tribune’s first physical collection of works, available to the public.
To top off the night, Jeter stepped up to the DJ booth to toast 10 years of The Players' Tribune and share his hopes that the book unites people through the power of storytelling and inspires a sense of connection. "My goal was to find a way for athletes to tell their stories when they wanted to tell it and how they wanted to tell it,” Jeter said. “I'm hopeful that this will continue for many years moving forward.”
