| | What's Inside About the Item Since 1831, the mythical Parisian store Deyrolle has offered nature enthusiasts an extensive collection of insects, shells and a wide range of taxidermy animals and natural curiosities. But on February 1, 2008, a fire devastated the cabinet of curiosities, entomology room, and a large part of the historic collections. Laurent Bochet and his camera were there, and he took pictures of the animals, as well as of Deyrolle's neighbors, firefighters on the scene, artist friends, and loyal customers, all of whom were marked by the event.About the Author Laurent Bochet is a Paris based photographer. His photographs focus on the purity of his subjects, which have the ability to tell their own story, revealing an autonomous narrative of before and after.Bochet’s noteworthy career spans the past decade, including contributions to Jalouse from 2001 through 2002, the 2004 publication of his celebrated independent portfolio entitled “A Table!” and involvement with various international photography exhibitions, including his March 2008 participation at the Galerie Chappe.
