Description
The sixth volume in The Luxury Collection series, The Luxury Collection: Global Artisans is about inspiration through craftsmanship. It showcases the artisanal and specially made products that make each venue truly distinct. Marvel at the clear sound and precise craftwork of a traditional Spanish guitar at Hotel Alfonso XIII; learn how the Olinalá lacquerware used for guest deliveries at Las Alcobas in Mexico City is created; or slip on your own personal hand-sewn paithani saree from ITC Maratha in Mumbai. Behind each Luxury Collection property is the story of the skill and artistry that make up its unique character, and this book traces the creation process through all five senses: the feel of rich velvet and damask fabrics at The Gritti Palace, the taste of trout fresh from Lake Fuschl at Schloss Fuschl’s smokehouse, the sound of The St. Anthony’s famous Steinway piano, the view of the light shining through the stained-glass artwork at Metropol Palace, the scent of Hotel Romazzino’s juniper wood furniture, and so many more.

The Luxury Collection is an ensemble of more than one hundred fifteen of the world’s finest hotels and resorts, each noteworthy for its architecture, art, furnishings, and amenities. Sharing a dedication to immaculate service and comfort, each property has a unique heritage inextricably tied to its destination. Curated for their spirit of diversity and genre, each Luxury Collection property has a story to tell.
