Of all the great Parisian couture houses, Dior is perhaps the most famous and prestigious in the world, embodying a sublime and magical vision of femininity to which Christian Dior’s successors—Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, and Raf Simons—have remained true while renewing it with their own interpretations. Christian Dior recounts the exceptional history and legacy of the house since its founding in 1947 through the contributions of each creative director, the runway shows and social events, the celebrity clients who have worn the dresses and the anonymous petites mains that have crafted them.

Originally published on the occasion of the legendary couture house’s sixtieth anniversary, this new updated edition unveils Dior’s most beautiful haute couture dresses from the beginning to today, with original photography by Laziz Hamani, and unique, insightful texts by fashion historian Farid Chenoune annotating Christian Dior and the house’s succeeding couturiers, from Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, and Gianfranco Ferré to John Galliano and Raf Simons, plus stunning photographs of celebrity models from Suzy Parker to Kate Moss, each immortalized in Dior by the greatest fashion photographers of the times, from Irving Penn and Richard Avedon to Patrick Demarchelier.

This monumental volume captures the ambience and creativity of each era, through a panorama of iconic images from fashion shows, in the ateliers and behind the scenes, and celebrity models and clients from every period, and features more than 150 of the house’s most beautiful haute couture creations, plus a complete chronology of the house’s collections and milestones.
