Sales Consultant

The Sales Consultant will report to the Boutique Director. The right candidate will have luxury retail sales experience. Candidate should have a strong interest in the arts, culture, travel and fashion.

Essential duties/ Responsibilities:
• Possess product knowledge of the Assouline product line
• Advise and assist customers into the boutique in a warm and genuinely sincere manner
• Provide outstanding customer service experience
• Capture client information and actively develop a client base, consistently adding information to further promote boutique relationships
• Regularly contact clients regarding new products, events and follow up
• A professional attitude and presentation
• Help create merchandise presentations and displays, are customer focused and maximize sales
• Support the correct management of the inventory

Skills/ Requirements:
• High School diploma or equivalent (college or university degree helpful, but not required)
• 2-3 years of luxury retail experience
• Excellent interpersonal, creative problem solving, communication, organizational and time management skills
• Demonstrates superior customer service techniques and experience with problem/ complaint resolution
• Ability to regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Professional/ Business work attire a must
• Ability to work varied locations, hours/days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Fluency in one or more foreign languages a plus
• Computer literacy

Mid-Atlantic In-house Sales Rep

The Mid-Atlantic In-house Sales Rep will develop new and expand existing business in the mid-Atlantic territories of Washington D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia in accordance with the stature and brand image that Assouline represents. The candidate will be asked to demonstrate recent experience selling to all major accounts throughout this region, with a minimum of two years sales experience in the book or housewares/interior design trade.

Motivated self-starter comfortable working with minimum of supervision in busy, open plan office.

Tasks & Responsibilities:
• Outreaching to customers via telephone and email
• Managing order process for assigned accounts and liaising with customers, with an understanding of Assouline program, discounts and practices
• Researching, reporting and following up on new channels, markets, & customers
Implementing and assisting in developing marketing materials and programs, including email communications to clientele.
• Maintaining sales force cloud computing system on
• Providing customer feedback to the Assouline organization as needed
• Working closely with sales, logistics, customer service, & financial departments
• Budgeting and forecasting

Account management:
• Working with existing accounts

Product Development/ Sourcing Manager

Exciting opportunity to work on product development from concept to launch. Utilize creative skills in the creation and development stages and project management skills during execution and roll out. The ideal candidate will be able to source manufacturers using varied materials (glass, leather, horn, metal, wood, resin, etc.) The main focus of design is library accessories (i.e. book stands, letter openers, book ends, book bags, custom journals, etc.)
Position reports to VP of Retail.

• Identify and research new suppliers/ factories/ markets to ensure new product needs are consistently met. Constant monitoring and evaluation of vendor performance
• Initiate supplier blueprints, models and samples. Ensures necessary engineering and technical approval of selected components, including material compatibility and dispensing characteristics
• Defines risks associated with projects for review with Sourcing Director
• Source both primary & secondary packaging
• Release, proof & route all packaging for approval
• Course correction to ensure deliverables will be met
• Set-up vendors in accounting system
• Research and analyze overseas and domestic suppliers
• Assist in managing vendor relationships over multiple product lines
• Expand on existing knowledge and develop new overseas and domestic supplier

Project Management:
• Weekly vendor meeting agendas
• New product launch timeline
• Initiate & develop new processes as it pertains to business needs
• Work closely, on a daily basis, with both internal (production, inventory management, channel planning, product development, creative, brand management) & external partners (fill vendors, component vendors)
• New product launch calendar
• Obtain & negotiate pricing
• Manage PR and production planning for sample requirements
• Create BOM’s & specification sheets
• Work with a team to manage and develop all global sourcing activities and strategies
• Identify and execute opportunities for improving supplier performance and reducing cost

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design
• 5+ years experience in the luxury accessory sourcing arena
• 2+ years experience directly sourcing products from overseas factories
• Ability to travel (10%)
• Able to work within retail and manufacturing environment
• Strong networking skills/ ability to form partnerships/ strong diplomatic skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in multi-cultural environment
• Strong problem solving and negotiation skills
• Analytical and statistical aptitude
