About the Item
From 1919 to 1933, in Weimar, Dessau, and Berlin, the Bauhaus (literally, "house of construction") was much more than just a design movement. It was a modern Utopia. Painters, teachers, architects, urban planners, artisans, engineers, actors, musicians, photographers, and designers worked together on this new concept of everyday life. Their experimental idea—beautiful, functional and scrupulously clear—became the style of the 20th century.

About the Author
